[ fiona and rose have been separated somehow by this point in their journey, and now fiona is left to her own devices to navigate the labyrinth. needless to say, it hasn't been going so well. plopping unceremoniously onto the ground, fiona leans back against one of the impossibly tall hedges, brushing some dirt from her torn jeans with a sigh. she's not one to easily be discouraged, but this endless maze could get to anyone. lucky for her, she won't be left alone for long... ]

[ is jareth lost in his own labyrinth?? god, i hope so.

anyway, fiona scrambles to her feet at the noise, growing desperate and calling out as the foot steps grow fainter ] Hey! Uh, Ruth? Is that you? [ come on, how is she supposed to remember the name of someone she just met? ]

[thejareth]

[The clicking stops at the sound of her voice, as does the grumbling. After a moment she can hear the footsteps coming back along the path towards her location. They stop again a few feet down from where she is and she would hear what sounds like someone tapping their toe impatiently.]

No, I am certainly not "Ruth." [It's said in a huff, with another pause before-] Where in blazes are you, girl?

[ well, at that, fiona laughs. at you, jareth, not with you ] I'm, uh, right here~! [ in her best sing-song voice ]

Wait, if you're not Ruth, then who are you? Jordan? You sound... constipated.

[thejareth]

[The impossibly tall, impossibly thick hedges part, revealing Jareth in all of his glittery glory. You know the pose. Yep, that one.

He steps through with nary a snag on his inappropriately tight pants, standing a few feet from where she is sitting, fisted hands going to his hips as he looks at her in a mix of delight and frustration.]

And I am definitely not Jordan. [Walking a few steps forward he offers her a hand up off the ground.]

[ fiona doesn't seem to know what to make of the sight before her, but the corners of her mouth just keep spreading wider and wider toward her ears ] That's not an insult, ya know. [ that's her brother ] Well? Who the hell are you supposed to be, then?

[thejareth]

[He rolls his eyes, retracting his hand since she didn't take it within 5 seconds of it being offered. /most bitchy.

His hands land on his hips again, head cocked to the side as he looks at her in mild surprise, like don't you know who I am?]

I'm Jareth. [Like that should tell her something. You know, the girl with no memory.]

[missindependent]

[ she looks at him incredulously, his melodramatic behavior going over her head ] Okay... Well, I'm Fiona.

You lost here, too?

[thejareth]

[He just blinks a moment, a bit taken a back at the lack of immediate reaction on her behalf. He schools his features quickly, shaking his head in the negative.] It's good to finally meet you, Fiona.

And no, I'm not lost. This happens to be my Labyrinth.

[missindependent]

[ huh?

yeah, that's the look on her face right now. ] You're Labyrinth? What does that mean?

[thejareth]

That, my dear, means that all of this- [and he spreads his arms wide, gesturing to everything around them-] is mine. My creation.

[Look at that smug look on his face.]

[missindependent]

Are you proposing to me?

[thejareth]

What? No! Don't be absurd, girl. I'm your Father.

[missindependent]

What? [ she looks at him like the crazy-person he is ] No you're not.

[thejareth]

[He crosses his arms, giving her a patient look.] Oh Fiona, how little you know. I am your Father, if not in the traditional sense of the word. We share a bond that is much deeper than blood, and much stronger.

[And indeed Fiona would be able to sense some kind of connection between the two of them, like with Jordan, but much stronger.]

[missindependent]

Except I've never met you before.

At least Jean Pierre raised me, and Andrew... helped birth me, or whatever. [ do you even know where babies come from, fiona?? ] Wait, you're Jordan's dad, aren't you?

[thejareth]

[He just raises his brows at her, amusement lighting his eyes as she protests.] Yes, I'm his Father. And yours.

[Yeah, he's not giving up on that quite so easily.]

[missindependent]

[ well, jordan is her brother, and she accepted that pretty easily, so... ] Okay, so what? Yeah, you're my father, that doesn't really change anyth-- [ oh shit. now she remembers: jordan was trying to protect her from this s.o.b. that's the whole reason he came to find her.

unfortunately, she's not used to having these kind of "revelations", so she's also not so good at hiding her realization ] Actually, I don't think I'm supposed to be talking to you. But that's why you trapped me here, isn't it?

[thejareth]

[A chagrined look crosses his features at her change in attitude and he shakes his head, addressing her question.] I wouldn't say I trapped you here. More like I brought you here for the chance to talk to you. To tell you my side of things. You can always leave anytime you want, you only have to say the word.

[missindependent]

Abracadabra? [ such a troll. but what does he expect from his daughter?? ]

[thejareth]

[He actually throws his head back in a laugh at that, eyes glittering with humor as he looks at her again.] Not quite the word I was looking for, my dear.

[He crosses his arms, giving her what he assumes is a concerned parental look.] Come, take a walk with me. At least give me a chance to show you I'm not an entirely bad man. You don't want someone else to make up your mind for you, do you?

[missindependent]

[ she accepts his invitation, shrugging as she moves toward him ] I never thought you were all bad, and really, I could probably care less even if you were.

All I really care about it Jordan.

[thejareth]

Well, I can assure you that you've nothing to worry about with Jordan, at least not on my behalf.

[He has the tiniest of smiles on his face, obviously amused about something. After a moment of walking silently he turns to look at her, his amusement seeming to increase. But he doesn't say anything. /jackass.]

[missindependent]

What? You mean me? You think I'm gonna do something to hurt Jordan?

[thejareth]

No, not at all. I was merely admiring your wardrobe. [I'm sure she has something flashy on that he would approve of.]

[missindependent]

[ uh, well yeah. they did just come from a club, after all.

that visibly relaxes her, though, and she grins back. ] Yeah? I like it, too.

[thejareth]

I think you'd fit in wonderfully here, Fiona. [They're wending their way along the twisting path, taking turns seemingly at random but he seems to know where he is going well enough. Or at least he's acting like he does.]

Have you given any thought to being here, among your kind? With those who would accept you for who you are?

[missindependent]

Well, you see, I kinda like being different, ya know? Also, who is there to make wishes if we're all genies? Kinda takes the fun out of it.

[thejareth]

[He smiles at that, his brow raising.] Hmm, that's a very interesting point.

Although, I'm glad to know you don't like following the norm. Like Father, like daughter.
